Post subject: | Open PAR meter project |
awhile back i purchased your "good enough" PAR meter. It got me thinking that others could benefit AND improve on the design. So I was wondering what you thought if i started an open source par meter project and used your diy project as the starting point. If it doesn't make sense to use your project, I wanted to understand if you had any thoughts/reservations on me starting an open source par meter project. I am very impressed with your DIY PAR meter and wanted to at a minimum acknowledge this great effort. If you would like to send me mail: bitknitting at gmail dot com kind regards! |

I emailed you. Yes this is an open source project. Anybody can take it on. Over at plantedtank.net, a user named Hoppy used a 3 different light filter gels to isolate the PAR spectrum even further to make it more accurate. We talked about it generally in the beginning about using filters and he's taken a lot of time to experiment. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showt ... p?t=443185 I think he's using a regular lux meter where you have to do some math to the output manually but shouldn't be a problem if you use an arduino. |

I did get your email - THANK YOU. I am getting my head around my project "A Salad A Day" which will include an open source DIY PAR meter started with your efforts. I will post on progress. Hopefully, others will want to participate and we can combine what we figure out/know into something we can all use and understand. |
